How Product Releases Work at Thought Industries
At Thought Industries, our team of product managers and engineers work around the clock to maintain our platform infrastructure and deliver new functionality every week. Building the world’s next-gen learning platform is no easy feat – it requires listening keenly to our customers, anticipating changes in the market, keeping up with the dynamic technology landscape, writing innumerable lines of code, running thousands of automated tests, and implementing a rigorous quality assurance (QA) process so that you continue to work seamlessly without interference in our platform. We do all of this and more to delight our customers and support learners through a beautiful, intuitive, and high-impact learning experience.
Below we outline the different tiers of product releases at Thought Industries, ranging from the least complex feature sets to the most complex. The higher the tier, the more effort required to develop and deploy the release.
MONDAYS: We release Tier 0 functionality and deploy bug fixes.
TUESDAYS: On the third Tuesday of the month we release Tier 1-4 functionality.
Tiny “behind the scenes” changes that enhance the user experience but do not fundamentally introduce new changes to workflows or functionality.
Minor admin-facing changes or improvements to existing functionality.
Core product functionality that applies to all Thought Industries users.
Major functionality release. For impactful releases and to the extent possible, in compliance with our Information and Security policies, our team will provide Thought Industries customers with 1-2 weeks notice ahead of the release in addition to post-release training and documentation.
High-complexity release. To the extent possible, in compliance with our Information and Security policies, our team will provide Thought Industries customers with 1-2 weeks notice ahead of the release in addition to post-release training and documentation.
We announce Tier 1-4 releases through a variety of channels to ensure you don’t miss a beat. Whenever possible, we try to provide you with sufficient notice so you know what’s coming.
In-Platform: Managers and admins will receive notifications in the platform when new releases are live.
Support Center: We house current and past release information directly in the Support Center for easy reference. To access these resources, log into your instance, click on your name on the top right-hand corner of the admin dashboard, choose “Support”, and click on “New Features & Functionality”.
Webinars: Bookmark this link or subscribe to our release emails to stay abreast of upcoming product release webinars. We host these periodically to communicate Tier 3 and 4 releases.
